Bajaj V15

This is Bajaj V15, made from steel of  INS Vikrant the yester years  aircraft career.  A clever ploy by Bajaj to use patriotism of average Indian.

Dual tone color, design inspired by cafe-racers and big tank inspires confidence in marketing teams, it is sure seller.  The V15 is powered by a 150 cc air-cooled DTSi engine which puts out 12 PS @ 7500 rpm and 13 Nm torque @ 5500 rpm.

It gets a 240 mm disc brake in the front and a 130 mm drum brake at the rear. Front wheel is wrapped around a 90/90 tyre, while rear 16 inch wheel is wrapped around 120/80 tyre. Fuel tank capacity of Bajaj V15 stands at 13 liters. Dimensions of Bajaj V15 – length is at 2044 mm, width is at 780 mm, height is at 1070 mm, ground clearance at 165 mm, wheelbase at 1315 mm, kerb weight at 135.5 kgs, and saddle height at 780 mm.

The commuter motorbike I dream about

I like it for commanding upright riding position and the built-in storage compartment in the faux fuel tank that can easily swallow a full-face helmet. The wide handlebars allow you to throw the bike wherever it’s needed, while its slim profile is great for splitting lanes (if you’re in California, anyway). As an added bonus, the NC returns excellent fuel mileage, and optional luggage provides ample room for groceries, though we’d opt for just the top case for commuting duties.

Perhaps the Honda’s biggest strong suit, however, is its optional second-generation Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). With it, you have the option to shift at the press of a button, or not shift at all and let the bike handle it for you. If slogging through the city congestion sounds like a chore from all the shifting and clutching involved, this option should be particularly appealing. Those looking for more of a feet-forward riding experience could also consider Honda’s new CTX700.

Everyone who rides an NC is taken by surprise at the low redline -- just 6,500 rpm -- but once you adapt to a power curve that's more diesel car than high-revving bike by short shifting and using the higher gears at low speed, the 46 pound-feet of torque is more than enough to achieve some serious hustle. Combined with the soft-but-capable suspension, it makes it possible to really wring some serious speed out of the bike on a canyon road.

Twin Cylinder Royal Enfield Bullet

Bajaj Pulsar Evolution

This is artistic rendering of Bajaj Pulsar (from motoroids.com) latest version due to be launched in September 2011, they might call it Pulsar UG V, if it is carried forward from the legacy.

As per the motoroids article it is a totally reworked chassis and new engine with fatter rubber. The new machine sports monoshock also.

Bajaj New Platina 125 cc launched

Bajaj has re-launched the Platina 125cc. The new Platina 125cc comes with few cosmetic changes with all new body graphics, as well as a modified powertrain unit.

Platina 125cc engine develops 8.5PS of peak power at 7000rpm and 10Nm of peak torque at 4000rpm where as the earlier platina 125cc developed 9.5PS of peak power and 10.85Nm of peak torque by these figures, it seems the platina 125cc is tuned down for fuel efficiency. Seems Bajaj still thinks that 125 cc is the base segment despite the current success of Discover DTS-SI.

Welcome changes are the five speed gearbox in new Platina and Bajaj has managed to shave 3kg from platina. Now the kerb weight stands at 110kg.

The New Platina 125cc seems to be positioned as semi-urban and rural commuter and is priced Rs36,000 ex-showroom.

2010 Bajaj Pulsar in showrooms

The 2010 version or UG 4.5 of Bajaj Pulsar is in showrooms. The clip on handle bars are common across entire Pulsar range right from 135LS to 220 FI now.

The 150 Dts-i engine will now produce 15.06 ps which is slightly more than the current mill producing 14.09 ps. The increase in power will result in better performance justifying Pulsar as a ‘performance’ brand by Bajaj. The bike will use a bigger 29 mm (UCD 29) carburettor and redesigned in intake system which will add to the performance.

The bike will be dearer by Rs. 500 than the earlier avatars of the same.

Yamaha FZ - S

After the two aces like R15 and FZ16, Yamaha has poised to build upon success with launch of FZ-S the more stylized version of FZ16. The package is same with cosmetic additions to improve upon already set image.

The bike is 150 cc, there should be improvement in mileage in the range of 50 KMPL, which in FZ16 comes around 40-45 and not so peppy compared to other offerings in the segment. Then the front number plate issue is not addressed it seems. The rear passenger seat is too small for grownup.

Suzuki launches Hayabusa and Intruder

Suzuki has launched it's flagship products Hayabusa and Intruder in India. The bikes have been priced identically at Rs. 12.5 Lakhs Ex-Showroom Delhi.


The 2008 Hayabusa comes with a ram air equipped 1,340cc inline four engine that develops 190 bhp with the help of high tech features like twin swirl combustion chamber. The sleek aerodynamic design offers high speed stability and S-DMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) which lets the rider select one of the three different engine settings. The bike also comes with a hydraulic slipper clutch (a standard thing in the litre class bikes) and radially mounted brakes for efficient braking.


A Gixxer turned twice over… The Suzuki M1800R is big. The bike boasts of a massive 1800cc engine and a wider than the widest, 240 section tyre at the rear. The shaft driven Suzuki Intruder M1800 R is also the most powerful cruise Suzuki has ever built if that helps the cause!

Honda CBF Stunner launched

Honda has launched its new bike in 125 cc segment, as per the schedule on June 30th last week.

The aggressively styled bike is targeted at youth who crave for style and please their parents with 125 cc mileage in upward going fuel prices in the country. As usual build quality and reliability are top notched as in any other Honda product.

The new launch will be direct competition to TVS Flame and soon to be launched Bajaj XCD Sprint. There will be three differently configured models with different price tags. The basic kick start drum brake version of Honda CBF Stunner would Rs. 47,070, while the self start drum brake version costs Rs. 49,820, while the top of the line disc brake version (with self start) would set you back by Rs. 51,655 (prices ex. showroom Delhi).

Yamaha YZF R15 launched

After lot of speculations since the Delhi Auto Expo 2008 in January, Yamaha has finally launched it's flagship model in India. The stripped down model of R1, a 150 cc YZF R15. The power delivery of engine is stated to be around 17PS. Best part of the package according to Yamaha official is it has not compromised on the bike other than the engine. Rest of the parts are same on R1 to R15.

Priced at around Rs. 97000/-, much higher than the 20PS Bajaj Pulsar 220 and Hero Honda Karitzma, it is anybodies guess how much impact this one going to make in already crowded Indian two wheeler market. It should be costliest bike after Royal Enfield Bullets in the market.

Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSFi launched


Bajaj Auto Ltd. has launched the most awaited motorcycle since its announcement last year in India Autoexpo. The new bike is 220cc liquid cool delivering 20ps on performance scale.
