Free Wi-Fi has been provided by Indian Railways at seven railway stations out of 407 stations planned for high speed Internet.
Manoj Sinha, minister of state for railways said, “Wi-Fi facility has been provided at 7 railway stations namely Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Agra Cantonment, Varanasi and Secunderabad.”
The internet access is provided free to the users for first 30 minutes. For usage beyond that, it is priced at Rs.25 for 30 minutes and Rs.35 for 1 Hour and is valid through 24 hours.
Indian Railways have plans to provide Wi-Fi facility at 75 A1 stations and 332 A category stations throughout the country and in select trains in a phase-wise manner.
In the next 12 months, Indian Railways is planning to introduce Wi-Fi services at 75 A1 category stations and later on will focus on A category stations.
