Yobike : Electric Scooters

To avoid lazy Saturday afternoon winks, normally i take a small motorcycle ride in unusual routes, to explore new things happening and coming around the city. While going around came across a Y0bike showroom, a showroom of Electric scooters. Out of curiosity, i went to inquire and test ride these mini scooters running on electricity.

The marketing guy seemed to be well prepared compared to many other guys i have visited previously, he explained me the technology and how it works. When asked for the test ride he arranged it readily.

Its a easy to ride scooter, no gears only throttle control and brakes, with a range of 70 KM on a single charge. Full recharge of battery takes 4 to 5 hours, you can charge it on board if you have power point in your parking area or batteries can be lifted and taken to home for recharging. Maximum speed goes upto 35 with pillion rider, that is what I tried to. The sales guy says it takes only one unit to charge the batteries.

To some up the experience, its a good economical ride for campuses and small towns where one can use it for dropping your kids to schools and move around for shopping of groceries and essentials. Hope they have added some additional charging via solar cells to maximize the range. One doesn't need to register it or need a license to ride it.
